New Director of UIL appointed

Arne Carlsen from Denmark has been appointed as the new Director of UIL by the Director-General of UNESCO. Mr Carlsen, Director for International Affairs at the Danish School of Education at Aarhus University in Copenhagen, has a long-standing professional background in teaching and research and a leading role in several international initiatives in lifelong learning.


Monitoring the Implementation of the Belém Framework for Action: International Expert Meeting at UIL, 25 – 27 January 2011

Twenty-seven governmental experts and heads of non-formal adult education departments and representatives of inter-governmental and civil society organizations from all world regions took part in an international meeting at UIL in January to discuss approaches and methods to monitor the implementation of the Belém Framework for Action.


CONFINTEA fellowships offered by UIL

To support the implementation of the commitments made at CONFINTEA VI, the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning is offering four fellowships for key personnel from Member States. Participants should be government officials and senior specialists in adult education.


UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning's Annual Report 2010 has been published online

Published bilingually in English and French, it covers UIL's activities in adult and non-formal education and literacy within an overall perspective of lifelong learning, as well as its organizational structure, publications and budget.


Regional Workshop CONFINTEA VI in Ljubljana

On the 2nd of June 2011, dvv international in South East Europe, the Slovenian Ministry of Education and Sport and the Slovenian Institute for Adult Education (SIAE) will join forces in order to hold the “Regional Workshop on the Implementation of CONFINTEA VI in South East Europe”.
